The organ contains older material: Organ case from 1741 by Johann Hencke
In 1741 a new organ was built for the Wallfahrtskirche in Göstritz by Johann Hencke. After a fire in 1826, the organ was partially renovated in 1828 (Rückpositiv) and 1838 (Hauptwerk and Pedal). Albert Mauracher built a new organ with pneumatic action and Taschenladen in the main case of Hencke. The Rückpositiv was not in use anymore. Because the organ was unplayable around 1970, the decision was made to built a new mechanical instrument, and to re-use the Rückpositiv in this instrument. It was built by the company Walcker-Mayer in 1972-1974. This new organ also better matched with the eighteenth-century organ cases in terms of sound and specification. The organ was completely overhauled in 2002 by Wilhelm Reichhold from Walcker-Mayer.
