1950 Schlicker Organ Company  rebuild

  • In 1950, Herman Schlicker completely converted the old Johnson organ (1893, opus 793) of Grace Episcopal Church in Sandusky, Ohio. A completely new instrument was introduced with partly existing pipework. Construction advisor was Robert Noehren. The organ was the first three-manual organ since a long time to be built in the United States with mechanical action, a classical disposition and a fully occupied pedal, and was an important milestone in the development of the neo-baroque in the country. The instrument was changed since its construction. The disposition mentioned here is from 1950 according to an article in The Diapason of November 1950.
  • The organ was replaced in 2016 by a new organ from the Buzard company. Parts of the front and the pipework were reused for the construction of this.
