  • In 1874 Carl Schubert started building a new organ for the Marienkirche in Marienberg. The previous instrument of the church, built by Donati in 1723, has been demolished. Construction work came to a halt between 1874 and 1876. Finally, on August 17, 1879, the organ was dedicated.
  • Organ maker Jehmlich revised the work in 1914, replacing the Oberwerk's Sesquialtera with an Aeoline 8'. He also installed a wind machine. The front pipes were requisitioned in 1917 and remade from zinc four years later by the Schmeisser company. Jehmlich again reconstructed the Sesquialter in 1958 and removed the Aeoline. The entire instrument was restored in the years 1990/1991 by Georg Wünning. The same builder installed new tin front pipes in 1994.
  • A complete restoration of the organ was carried out in the years 2010-2013 by Georg Wünning. On June 16, 2013, the organ was put back into use during a festive church service. In the evening a great concert was given by organ, choir and orchestra conducted by Rudolf Winkler. Werner Koch played the organ on this occasion.
