- In 1820, Johann Christian Adam Gerhardt completed a new organ for the Stadtkirche Sankt-Jacobi in Dornburg. It entered service on the first Sunday of Advent, December 3rd, 1820. From the old organ of the church, five stops and a number of wooden pipes of the pedal were re-used. Despite there have been plans for modifications, the organ was never changed radically. The prospect pipes were removed in 1917. These have been replaced by zinc ones. A wind engine was installed in the late 1950s.
- Alexander Schuke carried out a restoration in 1988-1989. The instrument could be re-dedicated on Sunday May 14, 1989. Hartmut Haupt played the inauguration concert in collaboration with Herbert Benkert, trumpet.
