The parish church dedicated to the Sweetest Heart of Mary in Detroit was founded in 1889. On 4 February 1894 a pipe organ was put into use, built by the firm Clough & Warren. The organ is also counted as opus 2 of the Austin Organ Company, because it was built by the builders with a completely new system developed by John T. Austin. This system consisted of a large air chamber on which all pipes were fitted. The mechanisms are mounted against the ceiling of this room. The instrument was played by Theodore G. Beach during the dedication
