The National Arts Center was completed in Ottawa in 1973. The Flentrop company built a concert organ in the concert hall, which was partly financed by funds raised through the 'Operation thank you Canada' campaign. On October 7, 1973, Albert de Klerk played the inauguration concert. Two days later he performed works for organ and orchestra by Handel and Poulenc.
