Thanks to a bequest from the Gulbenkian Foundation, it was possible to have two new organs built for the cathedral in Lisbon. Dr. Maarten Vente was hired as a consultant, and from a number of quotations, the Flentrop company was selected to build the instruments. The organs were officially dedicated in May 1965. They were played by, among others, Piet Kee during the Gulbenkian Festival.
