The organ case of the main organ of the Église Saint-Pierre in Aire-sur-la-Lys was made by monks of the monastery of Clairmarais in 1633. When the monastery was closed in 1792, the organ was transferred to Aire. The current interior of the organ case was largely made in the 1840s and 1860s. On August 8, 1944, the church and organ were badly damaged by bombing. After the war, the Merklin & Kuhn company built a new interior in the case, using a lot of old pipe work. In 1996 the instrument was rebuilt by Marc Garnier.
