  • T.C. Lewis built a three-manual organ for Ripon Cathedral in 1878. It was a three-manual organ with 49 registers. The organ case was designed by Gilbert Scott.
  • In 1912, the firm of Harrison & Harrison started a major renovation. Work came to a standstill during the First World War and was not completed until 1926. The then cathedral organist C.H. Moody was consultant during the work. In 1963-1964, Harrison & Harrison carried out a restoration under the advice of Philip Marshall, organist at the cathedral. In 1988, on the advice of cathedral organist Ronald Perrin, an Orchestral Trumpet was installed on Solo. In 2000, a second console was installed in the nave of the church. The organ still contains some ranks by Father Smith from 1690, taken from the church's previous organ. An overhaul was carried out by Harrison & Harrison in 2013.
