- Woolsey Hall is the auditorium of Yale University. The Boston-based Hutchings-Votey Organ Company built a large organ for this large hall in 1903. It had four manuals and 76 stops. George S. Hutchings was inspired by Worchester Cathedral's large Robert Hope-Jones organ in the construction of the instrument. The large new organ was the firm's opus 1469.
- In 1915 it was already expanded by J.W. Steere & Son Organ Company of Springfield. It received two new divisions, and the number of stops was increased to 120. The two new divisions could be played per stops by choice on one of the keyboards. The work had opus number 682.
- The Skinner Company was commissioned to make the organ completely up-to-date in 1928. An enormous renovation followed. G. Donald Harrison, who recently worked at Skinner, designed the new specification together with Ernest M. Skinner. The organ became even bigger as a result of the renovation. Most of the existing material was reused. Skinner added a String Division that can be played on any manual. The organ cases were also modified by Skinner. The renovation was completed in 1931. It was given opus number 722 from Skinner. A special stop is the Gravissima 64' on the pedal, created acousticaly by the combination of an Open Wood 32' and a Double Quint 21 1/3'.
- In 2007 Thompson-Allen carried out a restoration.
