  • The organ of the Domkirche in Schleswig was built in 1963 by the company Marcussen in the historic organ case that was present in the church. This case was manufactured in 1701, but it is not known by whom. In that year the organ was completely rebuilt, using material from the previous organ from 1610. The organ had 29 stops, divided over three manuals and pedal. The organ was expanded in the following centuries to 32 stops (Johann Hinrich Mittelhäuser, 1787) and 47 stops (Marcussen & Reuter, 1839). The Rückpositiv case was replaced in 1847 by a new case in gothic revival style.
  • In 1886 the organ had to move to the north transept due to work on the west facade of the church. The Rohlfing company rebuilt the organ in 1893/1894 on the old site. However, the Rückpositiv was removed and the interior of the organ was completely modernized. Further modifications were made by Marcussen (1915), Sauer (1920) and Walcker (1950). Because the old work had been almost completely lost, the company Marcussen decided in 1963 to have a new organ built, with a reconstructed Rückpositiv, four manuals and free pedal. This organ was overhauled in 2003 by Kurt Quathamer.
  • In 2009-2010 the organ was thoroughly restored by the Karl Schuke company. It was decided to keep the specification of 1963. But the organ has been expanded with a fourth manual (Schwellwerk) and a new Großpedal. The pipework for these extensions is located behind the existing work. On July 2, 2010 the organ was put back into use.
