  • The church of the 'Afgescheiden Gereformeerde Kerk' in Deventer was located on the Smedenstraat since 1851. In 1892 this congregation was given the name 'Gereformeerde Kerk A', and after the merger with the Gereformeerde Kerk B in 1929 the name was changed to Westerkerk ('West Church'). Because the congregation wanted to meet in one church building after the merger, the Westerkerk was demolished after a final celebration on October 29, 1935. The 1868 Höltgrave organ from this church was sold (it is now located in Nieuwegein) and the 1910 Dekker organ from the Oosterkerk was also sold in 1936. The new church was built on the same site as the old one, but the church was much larger. The church building was designed by Jacob van der Veen, an architect in Amsterdam. The church was put into use on September 16, 1936.
  • The organ was built by the Spiering company. It had 22 stops on two manuals and pedal, including two transmissions. Consultant was Mr. J.G. Kunst from Arnhem. The organ was put into use with a concert by Willem van Bruggen, organist of the Grote or Lebuïnuskerk in Deventer.
  • Due to declining membership, the church building was sold on July 1st, 1986. The Openhof Church on the east side of the city was now the only Gereformeerde Kerk in Deventer. The organ has been demolished. The church building remains standing. The Oosterse Bazar was located there for some time from 1989 onwards, after which a long period of vacancy followed. A project to build homes in the church started in 2021.
