- In 1830 an organ was donated to the parish church of Gulpen by the Marchant et d'Ansembourg family. It was built by the Schauten brothers from Jülich. Almost a century later, in 1928, the instrument was transferred to the new parish church of Schandelen (near Heerlen). The action was replaced by a new pneumatic system on this occasion.
- The organ was restored in 1968 by Flentrop from Zaandam. During this restoration, the original disposition was reconstructed, and a new mechanical action was installed. Although an extension with a back positive (Rugwerk) was considered, this plan was not carried out. Consultants were Hans van der Harst on behalf of the KKOR (Catholic Organ Commission) and dr. H.L. Oussoren and Cor Edskes on behalf of Monumentenzorg (Heritage Care). The restoration was completed at the end of May 1968.
