John Leek was born in Alkmaar in the Netherlands in 1929. After working at the company's of Pels and Vermeulen, he worked at the workshop of Verschueren. In 1961 he emigrated to the United States of America, where he went to work at the Holtkamp company. From 1964 until 1976 he worked a organ curator at Oberling College. After that he started his own workshop in Oberlin in 1977. John leek died on November 15, 2019, in Sandusky, Ohio.
