Gebrüder Stumm

Place
1747Rhaunen-Sulzbach

  • The name 'Gebrüder Stumm' has been used in different periods. The first was after the death of the ancestor Johann Michael Stumm on April 22, 1747. His three sons Johann Philipp (1705-1776), Johann Heinrich (1715-1788) and Johann Friedrich (ca. 1720-1803) took over the company. The latter was only employed as a woodworker and furniture maker. After the death of Johann Philipp in 1776, the company came under the management of Johann Heinrich.
  • A second generation Gebrüder Stumm consisted of the brothers Johann Michael (24 September 1732, date of death unknown) and Johann Philipp Jr. (7 October 1734 - 13 June 1814), sons of Johann Philipp Sr. and their cousins Friedrich Carl (9 August 1744 - December 4, 1823) and Johannes Franz (March 12, 1748 - April 22, 1826), sons of Johann Heinrich. Johannes Franz was mayor of Sulzbach from 1808.
  • A next generation of brothers consisted of three sons of Franz Heinrich (I) Stumm (1788-1859). These were Franz Heinrich II (March 19, 1815 – February 7, 1846), Friedrich Carl (December 6, 1819 – November 26, 1891), and Georg Karl Ernst (May 31, 1824 – July 8, 1869). After the death of Georg Karl Ernst, his sons continued their own organ workshop in Kirn. The sons of Friedrich Carl continue the company in Sulzbach.
  • The last generation of Gebrüder Stumm consisted of Friedrich (April 9, 1846 - December 13, 1921) and Karl (September 19, 1847 - July 23, 1930), sons of Friedrich Carl Stumm (1819 - 1891). They continue the workshop in Sulzbach. The last organ built by them was the organ of the Evangelische Kirche in Niederhosenbach from 1896.
