Maurice Ivor Forsyth-Grant was born on 2 August 1917 at Ecclesgreig Castle near Montrose. He was a technical engineer, but had a strong affinity with organ building. In the years 1955-1959 he converted an existing organ into a much larger instrument, which stood in his house in Binfield Priory. In 1960 he became a partner of Degens and Rippin Ltd, which had been known as Grant, Degens and Rippin since 1963. In 1967 the company continued under the name Grant, Degens and Bradbeer. In 1981 he retired. He passed away on November 3, 1992 in Rhydspence.
