Edmund Giesecke was the son of the organ maker Carl Giesecke from Göttingen. He was born in 1845, and learned the skills at his father's company. A pipe organ was installed by the company in Saint Louis, Missouri, and after this installation Edmund decided to stay in the United States of America, while his father went back to Europe. Around 1868 he settled in Evansville, Indiana, from which village he worked until his retirement around 1918. Edmund Giesecke died in Evansville in December 1928.
