Johann Georg Späth is stamvader van een familie orgelmakers uit Faurndau in Baden-Württemberg. Zijn zoon David (1726-1800) en kleinzoon Johann Michael (1854-1829) waren ook als orgelmakers actief. Voor hij zich in Faurndau vestigde was hij echter orgelmaker in Hohenmemmingen.
