Municipal: Gdańsk
Address: Profesorska 3, 80-856, Gdańsk
Description nr.: 2069227.
Built by: Hans Hauck (ca. 1516)
Dismantled and stored (1944)
The small organ of the Katharinakirche in Gdańsk was installed in the northern transept. It was built around 1516, presumably by Hans Hauck, with a main work and a Rückpositiv. In 1603 the organ was restored by Johann Hellwig. Paul Fischer, organ maker in Marienburg, converted the instrument in 1644. The result was an organ with one manual and without a pedal. The positive was withdrawn from use, and the prospect of this work was closed with painted panels. In 1910 Eduard Wittek expanded the organ with an attached pedal. It is possible that the Trompete was also replaced by a Salicional 8' on this occasion. The Salicional was present in 1929. Josef Goebel carried out a restoration in 1938. The historic organ case was stored in 1943-1944.
