Älvros Gamla Kyrka was completed in its present form in 1740. Parts of the church are from the sixteenth century. A new church was inaugurated in 1883, but the old one also remained standing. After a restoration, the old church has been put back into use, while the new one has now fallen out of use. Edvard Alin donated an organ to the church, dating from around 1800-1820, that was taken over from the Malmqvista Barnuppfostringsanstalt in Stockholm. John Vesterlund restored the instrument and placed it in the church in 1934.
