The Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles had a new organ of the firm Casavant from 1991, opus 3689. This organ with 67 stops was very badly damaged by a landslide in 1994. The firm Robert Tall & Associates was then commissioned to build a new hybrid organ, using a lot of material from the Casavant organ. The new instrument would have 58 digital stops in addition to 60 conventional stops. The digital part was supplied by the Rodgers Organ Company. They also installed twelve pipes from the Möller organ (opus 9607) that stood in Evans Chapel, the congregation's previous church building. On September 29, 1996, Fredrick Swann played the inauguration concert.
