  • In 1849, a new organ was built for the Burgkirche in Friedberg by Johann Georg Förster. He also transferred the previous organ - built by Johannes Mayer in 1750 - to Roth near Eschenburg. The new organ had two manuals and an independent pedal. However, most of the pedal stops are transmissions from the first manual.
  • In 1889-1890, the instrument was modified by Förster himself. He relocated the windchest of the second manual inside the organ and added a Gambe 8' to the Hauptwerk. The prospect pipes were removed in 1917 and replaced by zinc pipes.
  • In 1950, Paul Ott renovated the organ. He enlarged the windchest of the second manual from three to five slides and installed new stops on this manual, following the ideas of a more baroque stop list. The Gambe of 1890 was replaced by a Nasat 2 2/3'. On the first manual, also the Mixtur was renewed and a Trompete added.
  • Förster & Nicolaus restored the instrument in 1980. They reworked the Terzian of the second manual into a Sesquialtera and replaced the Mixtur and Trompete with new ranks, following the measurements of the work of Johann Georg Förster. In 2018 the same company overhauled the organ. In this year, the zinc prospect pipes from 1917 (or somewhat later) were replaced by new pipes of pewter.
