- Na een uitbreiding van het kerkgebouw besloot men voor de Johanniskirche in Großbuch in 1899 een nieuw orgel te laten bouwen door Richard Kreutzbach. Het verving een kleiner instrument uit 1783 van Johann Zöllner. Het nieuwe orgel werd gekeurd door Paul Stöbe uit Zittau, en is een dag later, op 2 oktober 1899, in gebruik genomen.
- De originele frontpijpen zijn in 1917 gevorderd. In 1924 plaatste Friedrich Wilhelm Schmidt nieuwe zinken exemplaren. Er is in 1973 een windmotor geplaast door de firma Schmeisser. Het orgel werd in 2011 gereviseerd door Christian Max.
