The previous church of Saint Joseph in Verviers was a large building. There also was a large three-manual organ with 39 stops, built by Maurice Delmotte. The organ case dated from the 18th century. This organ was dismantled in 1972, when the church was closed and replaced by a new building. The old organ was sold to the parish of Erkelenz in Germany. A new organ was constructed for the new church by André Thomas. The instrument was dedicated in 1973.
