The monastery of Sankt Maria in Esthal was built in the years 1951-1959, according to a design by Heinrich Hebgen. The church building was consecrated on March 7, 1959. In 1967 Wolfgang Scherpf built an organ for the chapel. The consultant for the construction was Ludwig Doerr.
