After the Second World War, the Jesuitenkirche in Mannheim was repaired from war damage. Carl Hess placed a temporary organ with eighteen stops in the church in 1952. In 1964, a historic organ case was erected on the choir of the church by the firm Vleugels. This case was acquired from the Roman Catholic Church of Fürth im Odenwald, and was manufactured in 1751-1752. Vleugels rebuilt Hess's organ hereafter and placed it in a slightly reduced form in the old case.
