1952 G.F. Steinmeyer und Co.  reconstruction

  • In 1892, a new Roman Catholic parish church was built in Berlin, dedicated to Saint Sebastian. The company Gebr. Dinse built a three-manual organ with 43 stops for this church. The organ was built with mechanical action and cone chests. A pneumatic machine (Barker machine) was installed for the first keyboard. The instrument was placed in a beautiful organ case, made by the Kuntzsch company from Wernigerode. Church and organ were inaugurated in June 1893.
  • The organ was renovated by Steinmeyer in 1942. They built a largely new organ behind the old front, reusing the windchests and much of Dinse's pipework. On November 22, 1943, the church was partially destroyed by bombing. The interior was largely lost, but the organ could still be restored. After the church was rebuilt, the organ was reconstructed by Steinmeyer in 1952.
