The organ in the Chiesa di Santa Maria Novella in Florence was built in its present form in the years 1868-1870 by Michelangelo Paoli. The previous organ, which dates back to an organ by Bernardo d'Agenta from 1532, had already been modified and expanded several times. In 1855 it was dismantled by Paoli. He built the new organ with partly old material. In 1920 the organ was converted to pneumatic action by Daniele Paoli.
