The Sankt Josefkirche in Friesenheim was newly built in 1950, after the old church had been badly damaged by an explosion at BASF in 1948. The old building was built in 1927, and had also been damaged due to war violence in 1944. The new church was designed by Philip Blaumer. In 1956 the Walcker company installed a three-manual organ with 46 stops. The organ was overhauled in 1984 by Paul Zimnol.
