1979 Münchner Orgelbau WRK  new organ

  • The Sankt Piuskirche in Munich was built in 1932. The Albert Moser firm then built a large organ for the church. Richard Berndl was consultant. The organ was inaugurated on May 21, 1936. In 1943 the church was hit by bombardments, which severely damaged the organ. In the years 1955-1957 Guido Nenninger built a new organ, using all the still usable material from Moser. This new organ with 38 stops, three manuals and pedal could be dedicated on June 2, 1957. In 1971/1972 the organ was expanded with a positive in the balustrade. A new four-manual console was installed.
  • In 1976 a radical rebuilding of the organ was started by the company Münchner Orgelbau WRK. The organ was in fact newly built, with a new organ case, mechanics and wind supply. Most of the pipework has been taken over from the old organ. The renewed organ was dedicated on June 30, 1979. Karl Maureen gave the inauguration concert.
