In 1989 Reinhold Hansen was commissioned to design a salon organ for the Motette concert hall in Düsseldorf. It was designed in the style of the French salon organs from the nineteenth century. Hansen also started construction. In 1991 work was continued by Werner Bosch, who completed the organ in 1993. Because the sound did not meet expectations, the instrument was modified in the years 1993-1995 by the French company Boisseau-Cattiaux. Much of the pipework was replaced, the rest re-voiced. Some modifications have also been made in the specifcation.
