In the years 1585-1588 the Schloßkirche of Planitz was built by order of Joachim von Beust. The building replaced the medieval Schloßkapelle Sankt Niclas. The church building was used by the Evangelisch-Lutherische Gemeinde in Planitz until 1876, when the new Lukaskirche was inaugurated. Since the closure of the Lukaskirche in 1968, the Schloßkirche has been in use again. The Jehmlich company built a new organ in 1987.
