Year | Builder | Opus | Activity | 1796 | Johann Andreas Schulze | new organ | 1955 | Hermann Lahmann | rebuild | 1960 | Gerhard Kirchner | maintenance/reparations | 1965 | Wilhelm Sauer Orgelbau | rebuild | 1990 | Alexander Schuke | restoration and enlargement |
- The organ in the Stadtkirche of Kahla was originally built after a major renovation of the church building (1791-1793) by Johann Andreas Schulze in 1796. The organ was modified in the nineteenth century. The organ had 24 stops in 1944. The original prospect was lost in 1945 due to war violence. The remains of the instrument were disassembled and stored.
- In the years 1954-1955 Hermann Lahmann rebuilt the organ behind a new facade. The work could not be completed, and was partially continued in 1960 by Gerhard Kirchner. Sauer worked on the organ in the years 1962-1965. A final renovation took place in 1989-1990 by Alexander Schuke.
- There are still five stops of Schulze. The windchests are still the original slider chests from 1796.
