In 1871, Hook & Hastings built a new organ for Saint Alphonsus Church in New York. The instrument was converted to electric action by Hook & Hastings in 1925, equipped with a new console and expanded. In 1980 the church was closed and the organ was stored. In 1982 it was rebuilt by the Stuart Organ Company with new mechanical key-action in Saint Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut.
