- On November 27, 1944, the auditorium building of the university in Freiburg was completely destroyed. Walcker's 1921 organ here was also lost. This so-called Praetorius organ was built as opus 1945 and was put into use on December 4, 1921 with a concert by Karl Straube. It had nineteen stops.
- After the buildings were rebuilt, a new Praetorius organ was built, but according to a slightly extended disposition specification. Professor Willibald Gurlitt took the initiative for the construction. The instrument was put into use on December 4, 1955. Some ranks are based on examples from Compenius organs. The organ was completely restored in 2000-2001. On June 28, 2001, Jean-Claude Zehnder played the inauguaration concert.
