Köln, Deutschland (Nordrhein-Westfalen) - Pressa Köln 1928, Stahlkirche
Gemeinde: Köln

Beschreibung nr.: 2078648.

Gebaut von: Wilhelm Sauer Orgelbau (1928)

  • In 1928 a press exhibition was held in Cologne, Pressa Köln, which opened on May 12, 1928 and lasted until October. A temporary church building was also built on the site, designed by Otto Bartning in glass and steel, which was therefore named Stahlkirche. Sauer Orgelbau built a two-manual organ with 38 stops for this church. The church was dedicated on May 31, 1928. The exhibition site was across the Rhine in Köln-Deutz.
  • After the exhibition, the church was dismantled and transferred to Holsterhauser Platz in Essen-Holsterhausen as the Melanchthonkirche. The church was dedicated here on May 22, 1931. It is not known whether the organ was also transferred, sold to another church or had been demolished.
  • The building was destroyed in a bombing on March 9, 1942.
