- The Old Lutheran Church in Logansport, Indiana was dedicated in 1851. This building burned down in 1883. After this, the current church was built, Saint James Lutheran Church. At the end of 1883, this church could already be dedicated. An organ was installed by the Barckhoff Church Organ Company. It is a two-manual organ with twenty registers. The original water motor was replaced in 1911 by an electric motor. The original Principal 2' from Swell was replaced by an Aeoline 8', probably in 1946. Later, possibly in 1996, the Aeoline was replaced by a new Principal 2'.
- In 1996 the organ was damaged due to flooding. A number of mechanical parts, including the key action, were repaired by Wicks Organ Company and partially replaced with plastic and aluminum parts.
- A restoration was carried out by John-Paul Buzzard in 2003-2004. They brought everything back to its original state. The front pipes were re-decorated according to the original design. On an empty slide on the wind chest of Great, they placed a new Trumpet modeled after an original 1891 Barckhoff Trumpet in the organ of Saint Joseph's Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
