- On March 26, 2016, the old church of Ylivieska was destroyed by fire. Construction of a new church building started in 2019, which was named Pyhän Kolminaisuuden Kirkko (Church of the Holy Trinity). The church was designed by Kimmo Lintula of the architectural office K2S. The church was dedicated on April 4, 2021. Next to the new church is a smaller memorial church named Muistokirkko, standing on the foundations of the old church. Several interior pieces of this building were made with burnt remnants of the old church, in order to keep the memory alive.
- Martti Porthan has been commissioned to build an organ for the church. It is designed in the North German Baroque style, and will have 35 registers. The organ is scheduled to be dedicated in 2024.
