The previous building of Østre Porsgrunn Kirke was destroyed by a fire in the morning of April 11, 2011. This church from 1760 in rococo-style could not be saved. A new church was designed in a contemporary style. A new organ has been built in 2019-2020 by Weimbs Orgelbau. It was dedicated on April 18, 2021. John Beech played the inaugural concert.
