- Christian Friedrich Göthel built a new pipe organ for the church of Sankt Nikolai in Grünlichtenberg in 1866-1867. It was commissioned in October 1867. The organ has 21 stops on two manuals and the pedal.
- The original prospect pipes were removed in 1917. New pipes from zinc were installed in 1936 by Alfred Schmeisser. In 1959 the instrument was renovated by Reinhard Schmeisser, and some stops were replaced by others. Consultant was Martin Römer. The modifications were replacement of the Salicet 8' (second manual) by a new Sifflöte 1', and of the Cellobass 8' (pedal) by a new Choralflöte 4'. The Nasard 3' of the second manual was shifted to a Quinte 1 1/2'.
- A restoration by Christoph Ruhle in 2016-2017 has reconstructed the original situation. New prospect pipes in the style of Göthel were installed, and the modifications of 1959 were made undone. Consultant during the work was René Michael Röder, cantor-organist in Waldheim. On June 4th, 2017, the Sunday of Pentecoste, the organ was inaugurated. Martin Strohhäcker played the inauguration concert.
