In 1900, George Fincham built a new organ for the cathedral church of Saint Mary and Joseph in Armidale. The instrument was relocaed to the new - current - building in 1912 by Griffin & Leggo. The organ is located in two identical cases on the north and south side of the organ loft. The cases were built in 1912. However, the northern case is almost empty: it only contains the Open Diapason. In 1985 the organ was restored by the Pogson company. The pneumatic action of Great and Swell was replaced by them by mechanical action.
