  • The Maria Hemelvaartkerk (Church of the Assumption of Saint Mary) in Sas van Gent was built in new-gothic style and dedicated in 1892. The architect is Joseph Cuypers. In 1928 the firm Pels & Zn. installed a new pipe organ in the church. It replaced a small Van Peteghem instrument that was transfered from the previous church, and that was bought from the closed monastery 'De Groenen Briel' in Ghent in the years after the French Revolution. On February 12, 1928, Emile de Groote, organist of the Sint Baaf Cathedral in Ghent, played the dedication concert of the new Pels organ. Caecilianus Huygens from Utrecht was the consultant for the construction. At delivery, not all stops were placed yet.
  • The Pels organ was in use until 1965. In that year a new small organ was placed on the choir of the church and the Pels organ remained out of use on the gallery. In 1983 it was refurbished by volunteers, after which it was put back into use on September 25, 1983 with a concert by Arie Karreman. In the following years (1986, 1996 and 1999), various new stops were placed by Nijsse. But dued to shrinking of the congregation the church had to be closed. The closure date was January 1, 2013. The building was sold and after a major restoration and renovation, the building was opened on 1 May 2019 under the name Markt4.
  • In the new function there was no need for a musical instrument anymore. In 2018 the organ was transferred to the Sint Pieterskerk in Oostkamp by the company Škrabl from Slovenia. The organ received a new electric playing traction with Setzer system. The wind drawers remain pneumatic. It has been installed on the church floor at the choir of the church.
