Destroyed (1945)

  • Carl August Buchholz built a new organ for the Marienkirche in Prenzlau in 1844-1845, with 33 stops. The instrument was put into use on October 31, 1845, together with the completely renovated church. It was played on this occasion by Mr. Bemmann from Prenzlau.
  • On April 27 and 28, 1945, the church building was hit by bombings, as a result of which the organ was lost. The ruin has remained for a long time. In 1970 the rebuilding of the church started, which took more than twenty years in total. A pipe organ was not installed, but in 2021 a secondhand instrument from the United Kingdom will be transferred to the church.
