In 1886 Franz Kriess built his first organ for the chapel of the Institution Notre-Dame des Mineurs in Strasbourg. The organ was rebuilt in the years 1956-1957 by Alfred Kern. The case and part of the pipework has been preserved in the new organ. In 2004, Yves Koenig carried out a restoration, involving students from the institute. On November 12, 2004, Yvonne Monceau played the inauguration concert, in collaboration with students from the institute.
