The Église Notre-Dame de Messines in Mons is an old monastery church, used as a parish church since 1802. The old monastery, the Couvent des Récollets, was closed in the French era. The organ from the monastery church has been sold to elsewhere. The current organ probably was taken over from the old parish church, which was demolished after 1802. The maker is unknown, but the organ case dates from the end of the seventeenth century. In 1803 the organ was worked on by François Joseph Eugène Ermel. Not much has been preserved of this old instrument. In 1947, the Delmotte company built a new interior, taking over some old pipework. In 1970, Georges Delmotte carried out a revision. In addition, the organ was expanded with a Fourniture, a Cymbale and a Sesquialter, and the Gambe was changed into a Doublette 2'.
