- The firm of Willis & Sons built a new organ for the Cathedral of Saint Machar in Aberdeen in 1891. On September 25, 1891, the instrument was dedicated, follow by a concert by J.M. Nisbet. The original location of the organ was on the choir. Because the eastern window was blocked, the organ was moved to the northeast side of the nave in 1928.
- The organ was rebuilt in 1956 by Rushworth & Dreaper. Sandy Edmonstone performed maintenance works in 1990 and 2002. The organ has three manuals. There is a separate Positive, playable from the first keyboard (Choir). There are still a few free places on the windchests: two on Great, two on Choir and three on Positive.
