  • The history of the organ in the Église Saint-Loup in Namur begins in 1738, when Sébastien Lachapelle built an organ for the sisters of the convent in Salzinnes. This organ was sold to the parish of Saint-Loup in 1808. An organ by Jean-Baptiste Le Picard had stood in this church since 1734, which was sold to Esneux. In 1857 the Merklin company built a new organ for the church with a new organ case. The case of the Positif de Dos was maintained in the gallery, but was no longer in use. Only the front pipes were preserved. Merklin's organ had 30 registers. Ten stops were taken from the old organ. In 1887 the organ was restored and expanded by Charles Anneessens.
  • In 1976 a new organ was built by Georges Delmotte. It was inaugurated on October 17, 1976, on which occasion it was played by Madame Verrees-Bouveroux and Michaël Schneider. The organ case was taken from the old organ of the church. When building the instrument, Delmotte also took over a large part of the pipework in addition to the greenhouse. The case of the Positif had been put back into use. But the construction was not succesful: after a couple of years the organ remained silence.
  • The Thomas company built a new organ in the historic cases of Merklin and Lachapelle in the years 2019-2023. The front layout of the Positif has been adjusted. The Merklin material that was still present has been incorporated in the new organ. A new choir organ was built with the historical material from 1738. Both new organs were inaugurated on October 27, 2023 with a concert by four organists: Cindy Castillo, Bernard Foccroulle, Benoît Mernier and Roland Servais.
  • The new organ has 45 registers on three manuals and pedal. Five registers are on 'Wechselschleifen', which means they can be used either on the Hauptwerk or on the Pedal. The Hauptwerk Mixtur is 4-5 ranks on an eight-foot basis in half-drawn position. In fully drawn position it is 5-7 ranks, with a Terz-choir and on a sixteen-foot base. Three registers of the pedal are extensions.
