- The church of Saint John the Evangelist in Adelaide was built in 1887-1888 according to plans by R. Garlick Holwell. At first, the organ of the previous church building was transferred to the new church by Fincham & Hobday. It was an organ of J.W. Wolff from 1875. On December 20, 1901, the curcent organ was dedicated. It was built by J.E. Dodd with two manuals and 21 stops. The organ had mechanical action and slider chests.
- In 1965, the organ was rebuilt by the company Dodd & Sons Gunstar Organ Works with electropneumatic action and a new free-standing console. The Clarionet 8' of Great was replaced by a Twelfth. George Stephens reconstructed the original console and mechanics during a restoration in 1996. The Twelfth of 1965 remained.
