There was an organ in the cathedral in Ratzeburg in the nineteenth century, which was damaged by a fire on August 19, 1893, because a large bell fell into the organ. The church was then repaired with an emergency roof and the organ was restored. On Monday, February 12, 1894, a storm raged, causing beams to come loose from the temporary roof, which once again damaged the organ by falling debris and limestone.
