  • The Johanniskirche in Dessau was dedicated on May 2nd, 1702. The first organ of the church was dedicated on the same day. It was the work of Heinrich Zerbst, organ builder in Magdeburg. Father and son Tobias Wilhelmi constructed the organ case. In 1872 the interior of the church was modernized, and the old organ was removed. Karl Giese built a new instrument, that could be dedicated on May 12, 1872.
  • In 1899 the firm Fleischer & Kindermann rebuilt the instrument. After this work the organ had three manuals and pedal with a total of 43 stops. After a new renovation of the interior of the church in 1904, Fleischer & Kindermann built a new organ in 1909.
  • In 1917 the prospect pipes were taken away as warfare metal. In 1928 Fleischer & Kindermann installed new ones. In 1935 the gallery was enlarged, and a major revision of the organ took place, again by Fleischer & Kindermann. On November 7, 1935 the instrument was taken in use again.
  • Church and organ were destroyed in March 1945. The stop list published here is from January 1900.
